About me and my approach...
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute with an emphasis on Jungian, Psychoanalytic, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, along with a variety of cognitive-behavioral, and emotional-cognitive regulation and stress-reduction techniques and modalities (e.g. CBT, Autogenic Training).
Jungian-Analytic Psychology/ Psychoanalytic/ Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
My pre-doc training centered around Jungian/Analytic Psychology, including sandplay and running a creative expression therapy group. My extensive post-doc followship training emphasized Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
Trauma Therapy
During my post doc fellowship, I received training in trauma, and, additionally, trained in neuroscience and attachment-informed, emotionally and somatically oriented Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
Neurodivergent/Neurodiversity informed and affirming care
My interest in the multiplicity and variety of cognitive, emotional, somatic, and neurobiological personal experiences -- both strengths and challenges -- goes hand-in-hand with my deep appreciation of the collaborative nature of therapeutic processes. I place utmost importance on the experience of acceptance, validation, and continued discovery of one's own neuro-biological-psychological make-up, coping styles, and unique and individualistic paths toward meaningful self-fulfillment. Neurodiversity has been a guiding light to me as a therapist, especially as this lens has the potential to elevate well-established therapeutic approaches in meeting the needs and wants of individual clients.
Reseach and Development
My research in and development of interpersonal communication and relationship-building approaches and training technology also contributes to my guiding and supporting clients’ emotional and relational self-growth.
Relationships and relatedness as central the therapeutic process
In my working together with clients -- individuals, couples, and groups -- we pay particular attention to conscious and unconscious aspects — thinking, feeling, and relating, including through dreams, intuitions, somatic (body-nervous system) experiences, and creative expression. We make connections and explore emotional and cognitive experiences, for deepening and synergizing in the service of expanding and enhancing relationships with self, others and the world. In this way, relational attunement is always aimed toward the wholeness and multidimensionality of self/selves, individual(s) and relationships
Eclectic, Integrative, Client-Focused Approach
Weaving multiple theoretical orientations, perspectives, and techniques, my eclectic approach is rooted in awareness of the impact of past and/or current trauma, attention to neurodiversity (always looking at both challenges AND strengths), and appreciation for past behavioral, interpersonal, relational, and coping patterns with opportunities for positive transformations.
Together, these therapeutic modalities and approaches provide a rich foundation for collaborative work with clients, helping them expand their emotional regulation abilities, interpersonal communication repertoire, relatedness and relationships, and self-discovery toward meaningful self-growth and personal fulfillment.
